Independent online florist, Serenata Flowers, has unveiled the five flower trends tipped to be the most popular next year. While 2019 was all about roses, cherry blossoms and daises, what flowers can we expect to see more of in 2020?
'2019 has been a great year for the floristry industry and 2020 is shaping up to be another exciting year. It’s looking to be a particularly inclusive year due to the polar palette trends that are emerging: neutrals vs psychedelics,' says Lucia Polla, marketing manager at Serenata Flowers. 'Whatever your personal taste, flowers are a great way to express personality and spread a little happiness either as a gift or a treat for your own home.'
Looking for some floral inspiration for 2020? From scent to colour and style, these are the floral trends you need to know about...
1. Soft neutrals
One of the key colour trends we can expect to see more of in 2020 is a warm palette of soft neutrals as bouquets adopt a softer approach. With many of us recognising the need for sustainability and organic produce, the online florist has seen that people are opting for natural hues in their flowers too.
One particular shade, known as 'neo-mint' is described as an 'oxygenating, fresh tone,' and expected to be seen much more throughout 2020.

2. 70s-inspired psychedelics
As well as breathtaking neutrals, vibrant colour palettes are also surging in popularity. Inspired by the colourful prints from the 70s, both interior and fashion designers are taking a steer from the decade of Flower Power; think bold, lively and unapologetically loud colour combinations. Bouquets of this kind are certain to cheer up dull January days.

3. Functional flowers
In November this year, the online florist launched a wellbeing bouquet to help ease the winter blues. With many plants and flowers famed for their health benefits, particularly when it comes to purifying the air, we are sure to see plenty more of these to come in the year ahead.

4. Minimalist styling
When it comes to the way we style our bouquets at home, 2020 will see simplicity as one of the main trend drivers. There's set to be an increase in stripped-back, minimal bouquets.

5. Powerful fragrances
It seems the flower trends for 2020 are going beyond just their appearance – Sereneta Flowers also found that many of us are on the hunt for scents that evoke memories. Why not get ahead of the game and opt for freesias, lavender, sweet peas and lilacs in your bouquets?
